One of the verses, which is used to attribute the divinity to Jesus, is that...

In the biginning was the word, And the word was with
God, and the word was God -John 1:1

Some christian scholars understand the meaning of the above verse- According
to John 1:14 the Word, who was in the befinning as god, was made flesh and
dwelt among us, full of grace and truth, means born in the form of Jesus. Thus they
declare Jesus as God. Therefore to arrive at the correct meaning of the above
verse we should draw the appropriate answers from the following questions.

1. According to the original text of the Bible, by what name was God called?
2. Was the Creator Jehovah only called as God? (or)
3. In addition to Jehovah were any others also called as gods?

As long as we do not aquire the correct answers for the above questions, it is
not easy for one to understand the appropriate meaning of John 1:1.

According to the original text of the Bible, by what name God was called?

God was called by the name of Jehovah in the Old Testament and as Father in
the present terminology. But here the question is by what name God was called in
the ancient times? To know the answer for this question first observe the following
information of renowned interpretators of the Bible.

1. 'EL' the mighty
2. Eloah
3. Yahveh or Yehveh = the ever - existing one
4. Elohim 'ELOAH' The supremes it is deity in the absolute sense.
5. God

According to this importent information as provided above it can be well
ascertained that right from the beginning the creator God was called by the different
names. Now the question is whether the people have changed the name of
Creator or the Creator God himself changed His names. The answer is given by
the Bible in the following.

And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the Jacob by the name of God Almighty, but by my name Jehovah was I not known to them -Exodus 6:2-3

According to above reference we understand that the Creator God has introduced
himself by various names in different times. In the same way Jesus also
called the Creator God with different names which can be seen in the following
Biblical verses.

At that time Jesus answered and said I thank thee, O Father,
Lord of heavens and earth... -Matthew 11:25

And he (Jesus) said, Abba, Father, all things are possible to
thee... -Mark 14:36

And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying
Eloi, Eloi, lama sabchtani? which is being interpreted, My
God, My God, why hast thou for saken me? -Mark 15:34

On a careful perusal of the above references we understand that Jesus has
called his creator God with different names such as Father, Lord, and ELOI.

Was the Creator only addressed with different names? or others also were addressed so?

To know the appropriate answer for this question let us have a glance over the
verse of the Bible under the following references.

Moses was god

And he shall be thy spokes man unto the people: and he
shall be, even he shall be to thee instead of a mouth, and
thou shalt be to him instead of God -Exodus 4:16

And the Lord said unto Moses, see I have made thee a God
to Paraoh: And Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.
-Exodus 7:1

The kings and judges were gods!

God standeth in the congregation of the mighty: he judgeth
among the Gods. -Psalms 82:1

I have said, ye are gods: and all of you are children of the
most high. -Psalms 82:6

The prophets were gods!

Jesus answered them, is it not written in your law, I said,
ye are gods? if he called them gods, unto whom the word
of God came... -John 10:35

Then came the word of the Lord to Isaiah, saying... -Isaiah 38:4

Then the word the Lord came unto me saying... -Jeremiah 1:4

And it came to pass at the end of seven days, that the word
of the Lord came unto me saying... -Ezekiel 3:16

Thus we can find a lot of verses in the whole Bible such as above. In the
above verses the prophets, such as Isaiah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel etc... were called
as gods; As it was mentioned in the law Jesus has said in John 10:35 "if he called
them gods, unto whom the word of God came".
