One of the arguments is that Jesus possessed the special features which Jehovah
possessed. Therefore Jesus is as equal as Jehovah. In this way to prove the
divinity of Jesus some argue that Jehovah is the saviour so also Jesus is the saviour
therefore they both are equal. According to their explanation the charecterestic
feature of 'righteousness', can be termed as God. As according to the following
verse.
Treasures of wickedness profit nothing; but righteousness
delivereth from death. -Proverbs 10:2
On careful perusal of the above verse it becomes clear that the righteousness
delivereth means saves man from the death. This means the righteousness also
can be termed as the saviour just as Jehovah and Jesus are the saviours likewise
the righteousness is also the saviour. Keeping in view of the word saviour, if we
regard Jehovah and Jesus become as co-equals, the righteousness also becomes
equal to Jehovah. Therefore why does not one worship the righteousness in the
capacity of God while one worship Jesus as God? So when one does not accept
righteousness as God how can Jesus become as God? Suppose, Jesus becomes
God by mere virtue of his being saviour then the righteousness also becomes
God. In such case there can be formed the another trinity. Therefore one should
not take some parts from the sentences of the Bible but on the whole context the
meaning of the verse should be taken. God may bestow such true belief make us
to and lead our life as propounded by the Bible and give us the true knowledge to
recognise Jehovah as God and Jesus as the Christ. Ameen.
9. Jesus was Before Abraham, therefore is he a God?
Some people of the christian community, who strive to attribute the divinity to
Jesus by any means, always try to draw the meanings from the verses which does
not in any way mean to convey the meaning of divinity to Jesus. But when the
meaning of the sentence is not accepted in its acctual way then it becomes more
complecated. In this regard let us see one of such efforts of our christian scholars
in the following verse.
Jesus say unto them, verily verily I say unto you. Before
Abraham was Iam. -John 8:58
If we try to understand in which situation Jesus had exhorted the above verse
we have to read carefully the eighth chapter of John from the beginning wherein
Jesus exhorts that if a man keep his saying he shall never see death (John 8:51).
Actually Jesus stated this reffering to the spiritual death but the scribes of Jews
and pharisees ascertained the wrong meaning from the statement of Jesus to have
said to mean for the physical death and criticised him as follows.
...Now we know that thou hast a devil Abraham is dead
and the prophets; and thou sayest, if a man keep my saying
he shall neve taste of death -John 8:52
Having heared this remark of the narrow minded scribes of Jews, Jesus countered
that he was before Abraham, then they became more angry on hearing the
strong reply of Jesus.
In this regard two questions may be raised that- is it correct to a responsible
person such as Jesus to say like that? Further why did Jesus reply them so? The
answer for the first question is that the evil natured scribes of Jews harassed Jesus
a lot and put more effors to prove Jesus as an antinational in the sight of the
Roman Government and twisted the stright Gospel of Jesus and applied the wrong
meanings to the exhortations of Jesus. Thus they distracted the people's attention from the preachings of Jesus and always strove to prevent the people to join in the
association of Jesus. In the situation such as this it is reasonable for Jesus to reply
them so.
Can the statement of Jesus that he was present even before Abraham be
taken as correct? observe the following verse.
According as he (Jehovah) hath chosen us in him (Jesus)
before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy
and without blame before in him in love -Ephesians 1:3
The above verse is written by Paul. According to this verse the word 'us'
means all christians. But here the question is that when was they had been chosen
by God? The above verse gives the answer that they had been chosen in him
before the foundation of the world and this is the irrefutable fact. That is why in the
same sence Jesus exhorts that he was before Abraham. This is the reality of the
exhortation of Jesus in saying that he was present even before Abraham just as the
christians were chosen by God even before the foundation of the world.
But christian community neglects this fact of every ones existence before the
foundation of the earth only on the basis of Jesus saying that he was before Abraham
to attribute the divinity to Jesus. If one regards Jesus in capacity of God as he was
before Abraham then what about them who had been chosen by God before the
foundation of the earth? Do they become equal gods to Jehovah? Not at all. So
also Jesus is not a God.
Who is the worthy of praise?
Jesus or Jehovah.
Some people friquently use some words such as the transgression of the righteous
way and the religious bounds and astry from the right path etc... But a few
people know as to whom these words acctually applicable to. But they aften
attribute these words on the other religious sects, who do not agree with their
openions and also on some people in their same religion of the another
denamination. In this regard if it is questioned that to whom these words are really
applicable to. According to the religious termenology the answer for this question
is that those who are having such beliefs as are not mentined in the scripture.
For example
Jesus is God the Holy Ghost is God God is Trinity Trinune Gods Praise
to Jesus Jesus shall reward to our prayer etc... And one of such beliefs is that
one should praise to Jesus. Therfore let us see according to the Bible to whom
should we praise.
Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye
the Lord -Psalms 150:6
The point of consideration in the above verse is, every thing that hath breath
should praise the Lord Jehovah. This is to mean as saying that there is no any
creature in this whole universe which is not praising Jehovah.
